Gordon’s Shoreline Marine successfully completed a challenging 220-foot residential steel seawall installation along Kettle Creek in Port Stanley, Ontario. The project site posed significant access challenges due to its landlocked location and low-lying bridges in the area, which prevented traditional equipment from reaching the shoreline. Local contractors were unable to mobilize their machinery, leaving the homeowners concerned about how to address their deteriorating seawall.
To overcome this, the team at Gordon’s Shoreline Marine developed an innovative solution by utilizing a sectional barge, transported by trucks to a nearby private boat launch within Kettle Creek. This allowed the team to safely and efficiently access the shoreline and perform the necessary work.
The homeowners were greatly relieved to know that a solution had been found, especially since their original steel seawall—installed more than 40 years ago by crane at the top of the bluff before the homes were built—had started to deteriorate. As the seawall failed, it began to threaten the stability of the bluff, putting the homes at risk of sliding down the slope. Thanks to Gordon’s Shoreline Marine’s ingenuity and commitment, the project was successfully completed, restoring the shoreline protection and ensuring the long-term safety of the property.
